CONNECTIONS are an inseparable element of every aspect of life, and the analysis of this process within the context of contemporary theatre of form, the relationality of thought and matter, and the transformations occurring within them—particularly in relation to new technologies—constitutes the foundation of this edition of the Conference. CONNECTIONS / POŁĄCZENIA have for centuries been the subject of inquiry and philosophical reflection. Out of unexpected connections, a new form emerges. We do not name it immediately, though our mind seeks explanations and strives at once to narrate it.
TheThe titular CONNECTIONS provoke what is new. The transgression of one’s own systems of thought is, for us, not an act of provocation but a cognitive gesture that enables the exploration of spaces previously inaccessible or yet unimaginable. We are interested in research trajectories such as fluid identity, the relationship between the human and the non-human (machine, animal, object, ecosystem), and the ambiguity between subject and object—particularly within the art of puppetry. We warmly invite you to LALKA NOVA 3!
ABOUT
LALKA NOVA
This event combines the format of a scientific conference with a space showcasing theatrical, performative, and audiovisual art. The internationally established LALKA NOVA Performative Conference, now in its third edition, serves as a platform for discussions about art. Previous editions (2021 and 2023) initiated a discourse on the world of form, which essentially defines us.
CONFERENCE PROGRAM
It includes, among others, lectures, masterclasses, discussion panels, workshops, performative shows, artistic installations, and pitches stimulating art networks. We invite all creative individuals connected with the fields of art, philosophy, technology, and science from Poland and abroad to participate.
The organizer is the Puppetry Department of the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków, Wrocław branch.
PUPPET [LALKA]
as a form became the point of departure for this Conference. The encounter of puppetry with other fields of art and science creates a space for the exchange of knowledge and experience. The puppet—as form, sound, animated matter, light, space, or algorithm—transforms before our eyes and generates new definitions. Here, interdisciplinarity is key. The need to seek out what is new opens spaces that begin to collectively redefine the reality that surrounds us.
NEW WAVE
As part of LALKA NOVA, we propose the accompanying new section of the Conference—a paradoxical section that ignores the pressure of technology and algorithms, a section against the flow—directed inward, toward the human being. The need for this section is as obvious and fundamental as breathing. Therefore, the program will also include spaces to slow down for a moment. Our sensitivity has power; it influences reality and change. From it, something new is born.
THEMATIC MODULES

HYBRIDS / TRANSGRESSION
In what ways do art, science, and morality transgress boundaries today? How do hybrid artistic forms influence the perception of reality? How do we experience ourselves in the technological era? How does the puppet or form, through the integration of new technologies (e.g., motion sensors, 3D mapping, AI, etc.), redefine reality?
KEYWORDS: hybridity | transcendence | technology | interface | PUPPET | avatar | AI | perception| transgression

03_CONNECTIONS
DESIGN
How do new technologies transform perception, memory, and identity? In what ways does design shape art, technology, and innovation? How does art explore the potential of AR, AI, interactive installations, bioart, robotics, and related fields?
KEYWORDS: design | innovation | technology | robotics | bioart | reflection | perception | FORM | BIO-OBJECT

04_CONNECTIONS
PAST / FUTURE - WHAT COMES NEXT?
Where are we heading? What transformations are brought about by the digital world and the development of technology? What do we preserve, and what do we discard in art? How should we approach art today – including the art of puppetry – confrontationally or with detachment?
